State directed to protect Secret Lake
The bench directed the GHMC and the HMDA to set up a police outpost with the help of Cyberabad police to prevent lorries from dumping waste into the lake. The court made the owners of the buildings within the full tank level of the lake as respondents.
The court asked the Chief Secretary to visit the lake and issue necessary instruction to the police for seizure of lorries. The court directed the CS to provide details on the total area, which falls within the full tank level as fixed by the irrigation department in 2000, and the area, which is now available to be preserved, and the encroachments already made.
The court directed the authorities to submit a report within three weeks about steps taken for preventing dumping.
HC fines RDO for misusing office
Justice C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy of the High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the revenue divisional officer of Penukonda in Anantapur district as costs for abusing his official position and passing an order without allowing the affected persons to file their version.
The judge was dealing with two petitions filed by Mr S.G. Dasappa, a resident of Ramapuram, seeking a directive to set aside an order passed by the RDO cancelling his house-site patta. The judge found fault with the RDO for passing the order nearly 11 years after the grant of patta in favour of the petitioner, without verifying the facts.
The judge directed the principal secretary, revenue to examine the conduct of the officer in issuing the orders and initiate appropriate action against the RDO. The judge directed the authorities to recover Rs 5,000 each for the two petitions from the revenue divisional officer.
Petition filed to set aside mine licence
A writ petition was filed in the HC on Thursday seeking a directive to set aside an order issued by the state government granting mining lease to Rakshana Steels Ltd in Bayyaram mandal of Khammam district. Mr Bhukya Bhaskar Naik, a resident of Yellandu village of Khammam, contended that the action of the government was contrary to the fifth Schedule of the Constitution and also the judgment of the Supreme Court in Samatha versus State of AP.
