Hyderabad, Jan. 27: State government employees will get a 39 per cent hike in salaries from February.
While the additional amount in the February salary will be credited to the General Provident Fund of employees, it will be paid in cash from March.
The hike will cost the state exchequer about Rs 2,700 crore. The minimum increase will be Rs 1826 and the maximum, Rs 12,647, in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Cor-poration limits.
Announcing the decision, the Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, said despite severe financial constraints, the government decided to increase salaries considerably. “When employees and their families are happy, it results in better service,” he said.
