Survey of SCs begins today

Survey of people belonging to the Scheduled Castes will begin in Kolar district on August 25.
The survey will be conducted as per the recommendations of the Justice A J Sadashiva Committee constituted by the State government to look into the discrepancies in accessing Constitutionally guaranteed rights by the people belonging to Scheduled Castes. Also, the survey will look into any aberrations in reaching out various facilities in economic, social, educational, political, cultural sectors and employment opportunities to the Scheduled Caste people.
The door-to-door survey of Scheduled Caste families will be conducted from August 25 to November 30.
As many as, 518 enumerators and 73 supervisors will carry out the survey in 469 blocks identified in Kolar district.
Village accountants, Gram Panchayat secretaries, hostel wardens, anganawadi workers will be appointed for the enumeration work in rural areas. While, tax collectors, revenue inspectors and teachers have been appointed as enumerators and supervisors in areas coming under the Town Municipal Council and City Municipal Council. The Deputy Commissioner has been appointed as the Chief District Observer, while Zilla Panchayat CEO will be the Assistant Chief District Observer. Additional Deputy Commissioner will perform the duties of district observer.
Deputy Director of Department of Public Education, District Statistics Officer, Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department officer and District Social Welfare Department officer will serve a s supervisors.
Whereas, two resource persons will be appointed for every taluk. Training for resource persons, enumerators and supervisors is underway. Survey will be undertaken in all cities, towns and rural areas in the district.
Thus, the people should co-operate by answering all the questions to the best of their ability and make the survey a success, appealed the district administration.
