Swargate flyover: Civic panel nod to revised construction cost
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) standing committee on Monday
approved the civic administration’s proposal seeking sanction to the
revised construction cost of the much-awaited flyover at Swargate. The
decision was taken after the Maharasthra State Road Development
Corporation (MSRDC) assured to reduce the cost from Rs 157 crore to Rs
145 crore.
“The members had objected to the revised construction cost
submitted by MSRDC. The administration was directed to study the
estimate and urge MSRDC to reduce the cost. The corporation agreed to
reduce the cost by Rs 12 crore,” said Vishal Tambe, chairperson of the
standing committee.
He said the MNS corporators opposed the proposal and urged the civic administration to construct the flyover on its own.
“The civic body has already sanctioned Rs 40 crore for the
project after the ruling alliance backed MSRDC to construct the
flyover,” he said.
Meanwhile, the committee also approved Rs 30 crore to construct a
pumping station at Mundhwa where used water will be recycled and
discharged in the river as per an agreement with the irrigation
department.
