Taluk sahitya sammelan: Mayor invites president

MANGALORE: Mayor Rajani Dugganna on Monday officially invited Bola Chittaranjandas Shetty, president of the 16th Mangalore Taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelan.
The Mayor, along with Deputy Mayor Rajendra, went to the residence of Mr. Shetty on Karnad Sadashiv Rao Road and offered the traditional “veelya” (betel leaf and arecanut).
M. Sarvotham Anchan, president, Mangalore Taluk Sahitya Parishat, accompanied the team that went to invite Mr. Shetty to the sammelan.
He said former president of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat Sa. Shi. Marulayya would inaugurate the taluk sammelan.
Postal stamp
According to the invitation, the Department of Posts will release a special postal cover to commemorate the sammelan.
There will be an exhibition of photographs, music instruments and books. There will be literary sessions on “Modernity and life”, “Modernity and farming”, “modernity and social life”, “literature and culture”, “literature and modern education” and “modern life and culture”. There will be a Yakshagana talamaddale “Vali Moksha”, in addition to other cultural programmes.
