Three agencies to be evaluated for YSR Park landscaping

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority has initiated the process of selecting consultants for landscape design proposals for developing the Dr YSR Park in the heart of the city.
Out of the five agencies that submitted the expression of interest proposals in response to the notification issued by VUDA, three have qualified for the evaluation stage.
A landscape architect from Chennai, K. Raghuraman, Sumanjali Landscape Architects, Hyderabad and Collage Designs, have been short-listed for the evaluation stage. The technical evaluations of the proposals were opened by the jury at the VUDA meeting hall on Tuesday.
Former visiting faculty of J.J. School of Architecture, Mumbai, Kishore Dwarakanath Pradhan is the Chairman of Jury.
The President of Indian Society of Landscape Architecture Savita Punde from Bangalore, VUDA Chief Engineer I. Viswanatha Rao, Chief urban Planner K Ananda Babu, Estate Officer A. Jagadeesh, Divisional Forest Officer B.V.A. Krishna Murthy, Officer on Special Duty Y. Ramesh, Chief City Planner of GVMC D. Venkata Ratnam and Project Associate of APITCO K. Lakshminarayana are the members of the jury to select landscape design consultant for the park.
Technical proposals
The agencies short-listed have presented the technical proposals before the jury. VUDA Vice-Chairman B. Sreedhar attended the power-point presentation.
The jury, after a thorough study and examination of the proposals forwarded by the short-listed agencies, will submit a report to VUDA to select the landscape consultant agency.
Chief Minister K. Rosaiah laid the foundation stone for the park to come up at an estimated cost of Rs. 5 crores on 18.78 acres on April 4.
