Pourakarmika of Humnabad said to have been assaulted by municipal council president’s son
Bidar: Members of the Poura Seva Naukarara Sangha at the Humnabad Town Municipal Council went on a snap strike on Saturday, alleging that the son of the council’s president had assaulted one of their colleagues.
According to a memorandum submitted by them to the chief officer of the municipal council, president’s son Raju Machakuri had assaulted junior health inspector Lohit and gave a life threat if he did not obey the former. The protestors struck work, closed down the municipal council office and staged a dharna. They submitted a memorandum to the sangha’s president, Baba Husamuddin, alleging that attacks on officials by elected representatives were on the rise and no action had been initiated by the Government against the offenders.
Mr. Lohit said that Mr. Machakuri had demanded that some workers be sent to his house for carrying out personal work. “I refused and he beat me up,” he said.
Members of the sangha, Sangamesh, Santosh, Veershetty, Meena Kumari, Susheelamma, Kavita and others were present. A casse has been registered at Humnabad police station.
