TN to allocate over Rs 100 crore for e-governance

Nadu government allocated more than Rs 100 crore towards e-governance
in the state and announced setting up of an IT officials cadre.
Making a suo motu statement in the Assembly, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa allocated Rs 100 crore for expanding internet connection to all government offices in the state.
While Rs 50 crore would be spent towards the second stage of expansion
of Tamil Nadu State Wide Area Network, Rs 10 crore would be spent on
providing ‘Redundant Connectivity’ and Rs 40 crore on ‘Horizontal
Connectivity’, she said.
The government would also install
‘Cloud Computing’ in the State Data Centre at a cost of Rs 11 crore, she
said, adding, another Rs six crore would be allocated for storing
geographical information needed for government departments.
A separate ‘e-Governance Initiative Fund’ would also be created with Rs 10 crore, she said.
“With these initiatives, all services from the government to general public and businessmen would be provided without any delay,” she said.
