Town panchayat takes a green step
Showing the way forward to residents and commercial
entities, the Sriperumpudur town panchayat office installed a solar
rooftop power system. The 3,000-watt solar power plant, installed last
week at a cost of Rs. 4.60 lakh, would meet electricity requirements
during office hours, an official said. Power generated through this
non-conventional energy system is more than sufficient to operate the
computers, ceiling fans, CFLs and tubelights during work hours, the
official said.
