Tumkur CMC officials get Lokayukta notice
Staff Correspondent
TUMKUR: The Lokayukta has put on notice 35 officials of the Tumkur City Municipal Council (CMC).
In September 2004, Tumkur-based rights activist H.S. Shivakumar had lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta alleging that the negligence of the CMC officials had caused huge loss of revenue to the civic body.
The officials had shown undue favour to shop owners.
The Lokayukta collected corroborative report from the Deputy Commissioner and issued notices (no.251/2004/A.R.E -5) recently to 12 municipal commissioners, eight revenue officers and 15 revenue inspectors.
The accused officials had been asked to reply before August 7. The Lokayukta had enclosed to the notice a 23-page report of its findings.
Mr. Shivakumar, who is elated over the action by the Lokayukta, said: “There are hopes of unearthing a big scam in municipal revenue.”
