Unauthorised structure demolished in Ooty
The civic administration on Friday demolished an unauthorised structure on the main Commercial Road here.
It was coming up away from public view inside a recently vacated commercial establishment.
The
controversial structure had figured prominently at a recent meeting of
the Udhagamandalam Municipal Council with members trading charges.
Pointing out that the building that was under construction was totally unauthorised, Muncipal Commissioner K. Sivakumar told
The Hindu
that after adhering to formalities, the town planning section of the
municipality had been instructed to pull the structure down.
Pointing
out that a team has been formed to keep track of such clandestine
activities, he said that those who violated the rules would be dealt
with severely.
Any structure which was being put up without the knowledge of the civic administration would be demolished.
To
a question that was put to him, Mr. Sivakumar said that even deviations
from approved plans would be viewed very seriously by the authorities.
