Vadodara Municipal Corporation asks city police to clear pending gas bills of personnel
(VMC) has written to the city police asking them to ensure that pending
dues towards gas bills for connections given to personnel at their
residential quarters are cleared. The dues have been accumulating over a
period of time and have now reached around Rs 36 lakh.
The VMC
provides gas connections in the city through its gas project. The
connections have also been provided to the quarters of police personnel
commonly referred to as police lines.
The VMC has been unable
to recover its bills from the residents of these quarters as the last
bill usually remains unpaid when the resident is transferred or shifts
to another location. In the past too the civic body has written
regarding this to the city police.
The unpaid gas bills pertain
to Navbharat, Akota, City and Fatehpura police lines. The bills add up
to Rs 35,99,302. Last year too, the civic body had written to city
police regarding the issue.
When contacted, a senior police official said, “We are yet to receive the letter. We will look into the issue.”
