Various decisions deferred at BMC meetStaff Reporter | Bhopal
A proposal put forward by the Congress corporators to empower zone committees, to award tenders for work upto `5 lakh, was passed in the general council of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC), which met on Thursday.
The general council, however, put on hold a separate proposal dealing with revisions in the allocated budget for the year 2010-2011 under various income and expenditure heads. It would now be taken up at the next meeting of the council.
The corporators sought the deferment of discussions on the proposal, saying several members wished to express their views on the matter, but it was not possible due to the Ayodhya title suit verdict scheduled for the afternoon. The motion was accepted by BMC speaker Kailash Mishra.
Similarly, discussions on recommendations of a committee looking into the affairs of the ISBT were also deferred.
While a fresh committee of eight corporators has been constituted to look into the purchase of machines for cleaning up of lakes in the city, the council decided, arguing that a presentation should be held to understand the viability of the machines the BMC administration proposes to purchase.
The proposals that managed to find way amid minor discussions included allotment of BMC shops at the Jehangirbad meat market to the highest bidders.
The general council also passed the proposal for the canalisation of a drain passing by the proposed AIIMS site at Saket Nagar and one that dealt with the auction of vehicles, motor parts and scrap material belonging to the Corporation.
