Varroc academy win Darekar cup with 24 points
PCMC’s Varroc Vengsarkar Cricket Academy team recently won the under
17 Satish Darekar Cup cricket league tournament. It bagged the highest
of 25 points while the runners up team, PYC, secured 23 points.
The tournament was organised by PCMC’s Varroc Vengsarkar Cricket
Academy. The Dilip Vengsarkar Academy Mumbai bagged the third spot with
22 points while the fourth spot went to Cadence which secured 20 points.
The prize distribution was done by ex-India captain Dilip
Vengsarkar who is the chief architect behind setting up of the cricket
academy in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Ex-corporator Satish Darekar, Sachin Parekh
and Sudam Dhore also attended. Vengsarkar applauded the efforts of the
players in putting up a good display. He urged them to perform
consistently and show complete dedication to the game if they want to
make it big on the cricket terrain. Several players won individual
prizes. Best batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad — Varroc Vengsarkar Academy, Best
bowler Khizer Dafedar —Vengsarkar Academy Mumbai, Man of the tournament —
Ruturaj Gaikwad with 243 runs and three wickets.
