‘VMC has made alternative arrangements for water supply’
Municipal Commissioner G.S. Panda Das has allayed the
fears that emergency services will hit due to the mass casual leave of
engineering staff.
The Commissioner on Wednesday said
emergency services, including, supply of drinking water, Under Ground
Drainage (UGD) and street lighting, would not be affected. The
Corporation made alternative arrangements for water supply etc.
The people could contact (0866) 2573223 incase they faced any problem, he said.
It
may be recalled that the engineering staff of Vijayawada Municipal
Corporation (VMC) had applied for mass casual leave from September 26 to
28 to express their solidarity to ongoing agitation against the
decision to bifurcate the State.
The indoor and
outdoor staff of engineering section, including Chief Engineer,
Superintending Engineer, Executive Engineers, and Deputy Executive
Engineers etc., have already applied for mass casual leave (CL).
They have decided to hand over their SIM cards to Mr. Pandadas before going on leave.
The
engineering section will not attend to drinking water, under ground
drainage (UGD) and street lighting etc emergency services during these
three days, they said.
