VMC to celebrate World Toilets Day
VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) would launch
on Friday a week-long programme to create awareness among the public
about sanitation and hygiene, to coincide with the World Toilets Day.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Municipal Commissioner G.
Ravi Babu said that the programme was aimed at building awareness among
the people about the danger to public health due to open defecation,
before imposing a ban on the practice. The VMC and children of corporate
schools would present models and themes on sanitation at an exhibition
to be organised at Dandamudi Rajagopala Rao Indoor Stadium.
