Voters’ list finalised, stage set for civic polls
VADODARA: The final voters’ list for Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) polls was declared on Tuesday. The move virtually kicks off the poll process as the dates of polls can now be announced.
VMC officials said the preliminary voters list declared earlier had 11,23,508 voters. The list was updated and even new voters were enrolled by the civic body for the polls.
Officials said at the end of the exercise, 17,014 new voters were registered. The civic body had received around 19,000 applications from persons wishing to get their names registered as voters for VMC polls.
VMC deputy municipal commissioner C M Makwana said the final list declared on Tuesday had 11,40,522 voters. Makwana pointed out that with the final election list being declared, the further process of elections can be started.
The list has been divided as per the new election wards that were finalised after the delimitation exercise recently. The city now has 75 seats for councillors in 25 wards.
