Ward to get a facelift
BANGALORE: Expresso had published a report on October 6 titled “Garbage menace haunts Hegganahalli” citing the horrendous conditions prevalent in the ward. The report emphasized on various issues faced by the residents of Hegganahalli and the callousness of the authorities in addressing them.Improper garbage disposal techniques and irregular cleaning had resulted in heaps of garbage at various cross roads. The residents also raised a concern over the lack of market for vendors selling vegetables on narrow lanes, thereby causing absolute inconvenience to motorists. However, the Public Relation Officer of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) clarifies: The Chief Engineer of Dasarahalli visited the ward and has submitted a detailed report stating that Ward No. 71 was earlier under City Municipal Council (CMC) and has recently been included with BBMP.
Hegganahalli ward lacks basic infrastructure and measures are being taken to improve the same. A standardised garbage cleaning process is underway. Moreover, drains choked with silt have been cleared at many layouts. Also, instructions have been issued to maintain public toilets and arrangements have been made to dispose off garbage near the Hegganahalli park.
Development of roads, drains and signboards will be included in the development programme for the year 2010-2011. Needless to say, the development work will be taken up in phases.
