Wards get fresh attentionBANGALORE: As Sanjana Singh’s family awaits justice and action against those guilty of constructing the substandard wall, corporators are leaving no stone unturned to ensure such an incident is not repeated, especially in their wards.
“We are doing regular inspections in our wards,” said A R Zakir, Pulekeshinagar (ward no 78) councillor, adding that no complaints or grievances were being taken lightly.
Saying many contractors were rushing to complete the work before deadline, he added this was the time when there could be “negligence.”
He said many old structures and walls in the area were being checked to ensure that cracks and damages are rectified at the earliest. In the city’s older areas, corporators are doing the rounds to check if houses and other buildings are in shape to tackle the monsoon season.
Krishnappa, Rajajinagar (Ward no 99) councillor, said safety signs were being used to warn people of such dangers.
Metro works and some demolition works are on in Rajajinagar, he said, adding that they were conducting checks to ensure that accidents do not happen.
“We are in contact with the contractors and keeping a close eye on the quality of the products they are using,” said Halasuru, corporator, ward no 90.
He said he is meeting BBMP engineers regularly to ensure they were on their toes when the works are being undertaken.
He said he has visited many construction sites in his ward and will ask for walls and other weak structures to be rebuilt, if necessary.
