Water Board project gets platinum award
The project automation of Water Board’s tanker service
has been selected for the Rs. 10 lakh platinum award for being the best
e-governance initiative under project category for the year 2012-13 by
the State government.
On the occasion of
commemoration of Rs.2 crore “Mee Seva” transactions on July 1, Chief
Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, will give away the award at Ravindra
Bharathi.
The major benefits of the project to the
consumers are: Introduction of IVRS, online registration of services on
HMWWSB website and Facebook has facilitated quick registration of
service requests reducing booking time from 10 to 30 minutes to less
than a minute. Booking through IVRS and confirmation of delivery through
secret PIN ensures that tankers are delivered to genuine consumers.
Besides
first come first serve principle implemented through integration of
IVRS complaint booking with gate pass generation ensures effective
resolution. Efficiency of delivery of tankers increased from 30 to 75
per cent.
Epos handheld terminals and RFID (Radio
Frequency Identification) smart card system provided a mechanism to
track the number of trips made by tankers, quantity of water drawn from
filling stations ensuring water audit and reduction of Unaccounted For
Water (UFW) at filling stations.
