Water Board to launch ‘save water’ campaign
will launch ‘Save Water’ campaign on Thursday. “The campaign, ‘Save
Water’, will be launched through the media like All India Radio, FM
radio, scrolls on news channels and posters in the city. We will tell
people about the benefits of saving water,” HMWS&SB managing director J SyamalaRao told TOI.
“As citizens are utilizing potable water for gardening, washing cars,
two-wheelers and even washing their clothes, we want to educate people
and send out a message saying ‘water is precious’. The campaign will
continue till monsoon,” he added.
The Water Board officials said chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed the finance department
to sanction Rs 51 crore for the summer contingency plan. “We explained
to the chief minister about the water levels at Osmansagar and
Himayathsagar and measure being taken to pump water through emergency
pumpsets at a review meeting at the CM camp office today,” he added.
In fact sensing danger, the HMWS&SB officials were making
arrangements to install emergency pumpsets at Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir.
