Water, water everywhere
BANGALORE: The motorists who use the railway underpass situated opposite Fraser Town Police Station face a lot of problems.A little rain is enough to make the road at the underpass inundated with rain water.
The underpass was considered as an ideal for the people from Cox Town, Doddigunta to reach the Pottery Road without wasting much time. However, the people find it tough to use it during monsoon.
The rain water remain stagnated at the underpass for a few days even after the rain stopped. The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) authorities failed to make a provision to drain out the rainwater from the underpass.
With the surface at the underpass is lower than the road, it becomes a pool of water whenever it rains. “I want the BBMP authorities to take up repair work at the underpass immediately.
The stagnated water has become a nuisance for motorists, especially two-wheeler riders,’’ said N S Ravi, president, Bharathinagar Residents’ Welfare Association.
C R Geetha, Traffic Police Inspector, Frazer Town Police Station, said the vehicles move at a snail’s pace whenever the underpass gets flooded with rain water. “We have complained to the railway authorities as well as BBMP authorities on several times. The problem exists for the last three years. Neither the railway authorities nor the BBMP authorities have come forward to take up the repair work. The need of the hour is to take up the repair work without any delay,’’ said Geetha.
Meanwhile, G Bhuvaneswari, Corporator of Sarvagna Nagar claimed that she had visited the spot recently and directed the BBMP authorities to take up the repair works immediately.
“I will visit the spot again. I will ensure that repair works are taken up as early as possible,’’ said Bhuvaneswari.
