Workshop for sanitary workers

The City Corporation on Tuesday organised a training
programme for its sanitary workers to orient them to the modalities of
the source segregation of solid wastes planned to be implemented in the
city from July 15.

V.P.Thandapani briefed the sanitary workers and told them that source
segregation will be taken up at 160 places initially. Four centres have
been set up at Mariamman Kovil Street in Ariyamangalam zone, Vamadam in
K.Abishekapuram, Birds Road in Golden Rock and Ambedkar Nagar in
Srirangam zone for collecting non-degradable wastes. Degradable waste
would be sent for bio manure production, he said.
