Corporation organises health camps
The City Corporation organised camps to check maternal
health and wellness of women at Bibikulam, Anuppanadi and Bethaniapuram
on Monday.
The camp at Bibikulam Welfare Centre in
Meenambalpuram, which was inaugurated by Mayor V.V. Rajan Chellappa, saw
a number of expectant mothers and women from the locality getting
themselves checked through the day.
Speaking about
the initiative, City Health Officer V. Yasodha Mani said they were
making healthcare more accessible to women and spreading an awareness of
the importance of maternal healthcare.
“Complete
anti-natal care will be provided to expectant mothers and they can have a
regular check-up, and blood and urine tests if necessary. Vaccines will
also be administered to women and children under the age of five if
they have missed out any vaccine,” she said.
“Expectant mothers could also submit applications for and clarify doubts about Muthlakshmi Reddy Scheme,” Dr.Yasodha also added.
The medical camps would be organised in different parts of the city on February 18 and 20 as well.
More camps
“On
February 18, the medical camps will be organised at K. Pudur,
Balarengapuram and Anna Thoppu, and on February 20, the camps will be
organised at Sathamangalam, Munichalai and M.K. Puram,” a Corporation
official said.
