Disproportionate assets of GHMC official seized
HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Wednesday unearthed disproportionate assets in possession of a tax inspector of GHMC and an employee of HACA.They also trapped a section officer in the minority welfare department. The GHMC tax inspector, D Subhash Rao, was found in possession of more than Rs 1.27 crore disproportionate assets in searches by ACB.
Majority of his assets include investment on land in Nalgonda, Rangareddy districts in the state and in Bidar, Karnataka state. The ACB officials said the market value of the assets would be more than Rs 5 crore.
The searches were conducted on the tax inspector’s house in Alwal and his office. He is the GHMC official in Alwal circle.
“The assets include a ground-plus-three house at Alwal, four open plots (one at Patancheru, Vikarabad of Rangareddy district, Yadagirigutta in Nalgonda district and Bidar in Karnataka), eight-acre agricultural land at Jenvada in Bidar district.
The total value of the movable assets is about Rs 45.85 lakh. Searches on the property are still in progress. With regard to the HACA employee, the ACB conducted simultaneous searches at a few places which resulted in seizure of Rs 20 lakh in cash. Besides, the sleuths found gold biscuits in the bank lockers of the accused official.
The ACB sleuths trapped a section officer in the Minority Welfare department while she was accepting Rs 6,000 as bribe to do an official favour.
The sleuths caught the section officer Vijaya Lakshmi in Secretariat today. She demanded the bribe from a pastor, M Prabhu Das, for issuing a Christian Marriage Authorisation Certificate, the proposal for which was sent from Kurnool district. “The certificate was ready and she demanded the bribe to hand it over to the pastor,” sources added.
