North Corporation to issue UPIC under property survey
NEW DELHI, 20 MAY: In a bid to augment the property tax collection the
North Corporation is all set to conduct aa survey of all properties
under its domain and give unique identification code (UPIC). The tender
for this would be invited from Tuesday.
As per the report of
concerned department in the North Corporation, around four lakh property
owners are only paying the taxes while there are 12 lakh properties,
under its ambit. Wherein order to bring more properties under the
property tax net, civic body will give a Unit Property Identification
Code (UPIC), under the provision of 327, DMC Act.
The Chairman, High
Powered Property Tax Committee of North Corporation, Mr Rajesh Bhatia
said, “Under UPIC, all properties will be given a special unit code to
be used for paying property tax. A budget of Rs 10 crore has been
planned for this scheme and tender for this will be invited from
Tuesday. All formalities will be completed till July this year and data
will start coming in from October. On the basis of this data, demand
notices will be sent to the properties.”
Mr Bhatia added that using
GRP cameras, photographs of properties will be taken. “This will
provide the details of the property. Through which any sort of disorder
in property tax return (PTR) will be spotted,” said Mr Bhatia. If the
property owners will pay the taxes before 30 June the Corporation will
give rebate of 15 percent.
