Special teams to identify areas prone to drinking water shortage
The Tiruchirapalli City Corporation has formed special
teams to identify areas which are likely to face short supply in
drinking water during the summer and initiate remedial measures.
Speaking
at a consultative meeting on Monday to discuss arrangements to be made
to ensure adequate drinking water supply during the summer,
V.P.Thandapani, Corporation Commissioner, said the teams have been
formed in view of the deficit in rainfall during the monsoon last year.
Teams will be formed in all 65 wards in the city and they would identify
areas prone for shortage of drinking water and initiate remedial
measures such as sinking borewells, repair of existing borewells, and
installation of mini power pumps. Besides, 24-hour control rooms are
also functioning in all the four zones of the Corporation to monitor the
situation.
